Pease Promo Mixedbag

What’s All This Floobydust Stuff, Anyhow?

Oct. 25, 2022
A sixteen part series written by Bob Pease as part of his Pease Porridge column.

Check out More Bob Pease on Analog.

This series is found in the Electronic History section of our Series Library

At Electronic Design, Bob Pease is remembered for his wit and insights in his regular Pease Porridge column. He was an "analog guru and fine engineer and a good friend." We have been collecting and republishing many of his articles in these eBooks:

You might have noticed Bob's "What's All This" article titles. For example, we are highlighting other series like "What's All This Algebraic Equation Stuff?"

Bob's articles were always very popular and remain so today. This is why we collected his "floobydust" articles here. I don't think Bob knew that the list would grow to 15 (oops, 16, including 5B) when he started, and I'm sure the list would have extended further had he lived longer.

According to the National Semiconductor Audio Handbook circa 1976:

"Floobydust" is a contemporary term derived from archaic Latin miscellaneus, whose disputed history probably springs from Greek origins (influenced, of course, by Egyptian linguists) -- meaning here "a mixed bag."

So here is the floobydust series. These were spread across more than a decade of regular columns that Bob wrote for us, providing insights into random topics. If we have enough interest, then this series will be turned into an eBook that you can download.
