Additional wires for connections between power supplies and repeaters, transceivers, and interface components have been integrated into a single cable, the Superflex. These fiber-optic two- or four-wire lines come with 2- by 1-mm2 or 4- by 1.5-mm2 copper wires that can handle up to 500 V. This configuration should reduce assembly time and clutter. Aramid fibers (Kevlar) are used for strain relief. That feature, along with halogen-free PUR jackets (flame-resistant) and plastic fiber-optic cables make Superflex cables comparable to traditional copper cables, with regards to their mechanical data. Lengths can reach up to 70 m, and the operating temperature extends from −20°C to 70°C. The bending radius can extend to 20 times the diameter, which can range from 8 to 10.3 mm. In other words, Superflex cables are flexible, yet strong. The manufacturer says that they are suitable as C-track cables in system installations.
