Reduced height, lower selfinductance, and lower equivalent series resistance are the hallmarks of AVX’s TPM series, multianode, “mirror” configuration tantalum capacitors. Their symmetrical design reduces ESL to 1nH. Thanks to the low ESL, a higher resonant frequency up to 500kHz (mirror D case) is possible, which in turn delivers more efficient filtering for dc-dc power switching converters.

The design also reduces the height of the new tantalum capacitors from 4.3mm (E case) to 3.1mm (D case). Plans call for even further reductions down to 2.0mm maximum height.
