A new crystal oscillator has been designed for data communication and SAN systems that operate at high frequencies and require a low-jitter timing source. The 7311S has an output frequency range of 100 MHz to 170 MHz. Standard frequencies include 106.25 MHz, 125 MHz, 155.52 MHz, 156.25 MHz and 161.1328 MHz. Jitter performance is 3 ps typical. The product has a differential LV-PECL tri-state output, operates on a supply voltage of +3.3 VDC consuming 60 mA typical, and has an enable/disable function. Measuring 5.0 mm wide x 7.0 mm long x 1.7 mm high, the device is housed in a hermetically sealed SMD six-pad package. It includes a 150 MHz high-frequency crystal, with a proprietary one-chip generator. The 7311S has a frequency stability of ±25 ppm maximum over an operating temperature range of 0°C to +70°C. Another version extends from 0°C to +85°C. Applications include Infiniband, Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and Storage Area Network devices. Pricing is less than $4.00 each/1,000.
