Kionix’s KX23H integrated sensor hub packs a low-power three-axis accelerometer and a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller (MCU) into a 3- by 3- by 0.9-mm package.

Kionix’s KX23H integrated sensor hub packs a low-power three-axis accelerometer and a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller (MCU) into a 3- by 3- by 0.9-mm package. It also incorporates a library of advanced motion-processing software, which provides pedometer and caloric-counting algorithms, as well as activity monitoring and the ability to detect differences between various states (e.g., Stop, Walk, Run, Car, Train, etc.). Additional embedded algorithms target Tap/Double-Tap, screen rotation, tilt, and other common applications. Memory includes 128 kbytes of Flash ROM and 16 kbytes of SRAM. It contains I2C master and slave ports, and three GPIOs with interrupt capability. To reduce power consumption, the hub can accept inputs such as gyroscopes, magnetometers, and pressure sensors, plus run sensor fusion software. The accelerometer operates from 0.781 Hz to 1.6 kHz, and features 16-bit resolution along with a 256-byte FIFO/FILO buffer. Power consumption is 1 µA (standby), 2 µA (at 3.1 Hz), and 146 µA (at 1.6 kHz). FlexSet Performance Optimization makes it possible to dynamically adjust power and noise parameters.
