Powered by the VP7 DSP core and the Veracity VoIP firmware from Netergy Microelectronics, the STV0397 VoIP processor functions as an audio compression co-processor. The device includes software for the ITU G.711, G.722, G.723.1, G.726, G.728, G.729A/B, and G.729E algorithms, as well as acoustic echo cancellation, DTMF detection and generation, and audio mixing circuitry. Other features include support for up to 16 channels of codecs, a memory controller, 8 KB of audio frame buffers, a TDM interface for audio streams, and a standard PCI port for interfacing with a host controller.
