The PS-2406 debuts as the market’s first configurable power subsystem controller with an integral serial-data link to a primary side power management IC. Providing comprehensive power management of up to four secondary side dc/dc converters, the device is able to monitor and act on power system information from both sides of the high-voltage isolation barrier to maximize system uptime. It includes all necessary functions to sequence, monitor, and accurately trim user-specified converters and to handle power system fault conditions. To further improve uptime, the controller can be configured to restart automatically following a momentary shutdown. Configuration data is stored in the device’s non-volatile memory via its I²C interface or JTAG port. The device comes in a 48-pin QFP that includes four GPIO pins that can be mapped as hardware enable inputs or power good outputs. Price is $4.60 each/10,000. POTENTIA SEMICONDUCTOR, Ottawa, Canada.
