Ridley Engineering Launches Online Workshop Format, adds Power Design Expert-in-a-Box
The new working paradigm created by the current pandemic has impacted every facet of society, from supply chains and working environments, to education and follow-on learning. In the area of engineering education, hands-on design seminars can't be held, so other methods of advanced training have to be adopted.
One group known for its hands-on training, Ridley Engineering, launched an online four-day power supply design workshop training series. The new LIVE format allows participants to learn from the safety of their own work or home environment. From their California command center, Ridley Engineering instructors connect to all participants by video to assist with setup and all experiments.
The workshops are designed for power supply design engineers at all levels of experience. New dates for 2021 are now open for registration. The offering is currently focused on US-based participants, but plans are underway to add EU/UK remote workshops to the calendar.
“We ship the workshop kit to you,” commented Dr. Ridley. “The kit includes everything that you need to follow the lecture and perform all experiments from our traditional ‘in-person’ experience that we have offered for over 24 years. All you need is a monitor.”
Available worldwide and small enough to fit into a briefcase, the Ridleybox is ideal for engineers who travel or are working from home. “This began as a concept to condense our labs for travel and teaching. The resulting product is one from which the entire power electronics community can benefit,” commented Dr. Ridley.
The combination of online seminars with new and more powerful transportable and highly-integrated tools will aid the engineering community as it hunkers down during this difficult time. In addition, the enhanced capabilities provided to the individual designers will help entrepreneurial engineers create their own value-added services and products.
