The OXFW911 from Oxford Semiconductors is a high-performance 1394-to-ATA/ATAPI native bridge supporting ATA33, ATA66 and ATA-100 applications and delivering a sustained data transfer rate of 45 MB/s. An embedded 32-bit ARM processor and in-field reprogrammable flash ROM deliver high-performance connections and the opportunity for engineers to create new storage solutions. The device provides a means for the 1394 community to differentiate their products over USB and to design converged media storage products. A complete reference design for simple bridge solutions and a product development board to assist in innovating new IDE solutions based on the ARM processor is available.
