Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA. - Promising unprecedented debugging productivity for software developers, the company now includes what it's calling the first ever checkpoint/restart capability with its native SystemC virtual platforms. The addition allows users to focus on the execution sequence where the software bug occurs, reportedly not possible using physical hardware boards. The checkpoint/restart function also allows users to save the state of their simulation at any point in time and restart the simulation from this state for the next simulation run or at a later date. This results in the developer being able to focus on the execution area of interest without having to re-execute the validated code. The checkpoint/restart capability is available with Virtual Platform and with the Software Development option for Platform Architect. The capability is available for Windows now with Linux support to follow later in the year.
