VME/VXI Interface Suited For Military Uses

Sept. 1, 1998

Model BU-65528 intelligent interface is for use between multiple dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553A/B Notice 2 Data Buses and parallel VMEbus and VXIbus, with the unit's software controlling the operation of each independent channel as either a MIL-STD-1553 bus controller, remote terminal, or bus monitor terminal. A ruggedized version, designated BU-65527, is conduction cooled per IEEE 1101.2 to meet military specs. The dual-redundant 1553 interface is implemented using firm's BU-61586 advanced communications engine (ACE) component and can be configured with one, two, three or four of the ACE components, making possible interfaces with up to four independent MIL-STD-1553 buses. Each 1553 channel contains 12K x 16 of memory-mapped on-board RAM that is double buffered to prevent partially updated data from being read by the VME/VXI host.
