CompactPCI Hot-Swap Ethernet Adapters Put I/O On Front Or Rear Chassis Panels

May 1, 1999

A range of platforms based on 3U or 6U form factors and offering a choice of front- or rear-panel I/O is addressed by a family of PICMG-compliant CompactPCI hot-swap Fast Ethernet adapters. The units offer PICMG 2.1-compliant hot-swap circuitry and a 64-bit bus interface. The boards are designed for high-availability data and telecommunication platforms that support data-intensive applications, such as voice-over-IP, community messaging, Advanced Intelligent Networking services, firewalls, access products, and web servers. Two separate series of NetBlaster adapters, the ZX470 Series and the ZX440 Series, provide users with the choice of 3U, 6U and front or rear I/O. The ZX470 Series is a carrier-class hot-swap adapter for central office uses. It supports four- and eight-channel configurations. The ZX440 Series offers two- and four-channel versions.
