Designed to be a complete memory solution for the Lucent LUCTAPC640 ATM Port Controller, the WED9LAPC2C16V4BC and the WED9LAPC2B16P8BC chip set operate at 3.3V and are packaged in a 21 mm x 21 mm 192 BGA and a 14 mm x 22 mm 153 BGA, respectively. When used together, these two devices replace up to eight monolithic memory products normally required to satisfy the APC memory requirements. This is said to result in board-space savings of up to 63%. The WED9LAPC2C16V4BC is configured as a 512K x 32 synchronous pipeline SRAM and a 512K x 64 synchronous DRAM array and provides the memory required for the control memory and the virtual connection memory on the ATM port controller. The ED9LAPC2B16P8BC is configured as a 4M x 32 synchronous DRAM and a 2M x 8 synchronous DRAM array. This chip provides the memory for the buffer and pointer memory. Prices for the WED9LAPC2C16V4BC and WED9LAPC2B16P8BC are $130 and $44 each, respectively, with a lead time of six to eight weeks.
