Predicting simplified designs and lower component counts, the IRU3038 power management IC supports DDR memory for currents in the 3A to 10A range. The device integrates an error amplifier into the PWM controller to ensure that the termination voltage (Vtt) is one half the supply voltage (VDDQ) within 3% and is capable of a voltage tracking accuracy of less than 1.5%. Capable of operating with a single 5V or 12V, the IC can be programmed to operate between 200 and 400kHz using an external resistor. Other features include under-voltage lockout for both Vcc and Vc supplies, an externally programmable soft start function, output under-voltage detection that latches off the device when an output short is detected, and a 1.25V 1% reference that allows the device to be used as a general purpose controller for on-board dc/dc conversion. Available in a SOIC-14 and TSSOP-14, pricing begins at $0.82 each /10,000 for the SOIC-14 package. INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7105.
