Embedded designers faced with the never-ending task of getting more speed out of their high-bandwidth designs may get a reprieve with the Nios Development Kit, Stratix Edition. The kit features version 3.0 of the Nios embedded processor as well as the EP1S10 device. Also included is Quartus II development software, the SOPC Builder system tool, and a complete set of software-development tools. Its Stratix development board features 1 Mbyte of SRAM, 16 Mbytes of SDRAM, and 8 Mbytes of flash memory. Also included are a 10/100 Ethernet port, two serial ports, a Mictor connector for software debug, two expansion headers, a power supply, and a download cable. The Stratix Edition kit supports a complete set of software-development tools from Accelerated Technology, including the Nucleus real-time operating system and the code|lab Developer Suite. The Stratix Edition of the Nios Development Kit costs $995.
