Designed for low-power operation in handheld and portable applications, Model DMF50834 ultra-compact, 119 x 73-pixel LCD module includes an on-board controller with character generator, extended temperature fluid, EL backlight, backlight inverter, and dc-to-dc converter. The module is sunlight readable with a mono-chrome FSTN film and black-and-white LCD panel operating from -10°C to 60°C, and the dc-to-dc converter generates the negative voltages required for display contrast. The module includes a blue/green EL backlight with on-board dc-to-ac inverter. The display operates from a 3V supply with 8-bit parallel interface, and the controller IC allows combined graphic and character screens with a 5 x 7 segment font from 208-character CG-ROM and 16-character CG-RAM.
