ADC Has On-Chip Programmable Post Processor

Feb. 1, 2001

The AD7725 is a new 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converter with on-chip filtering and user-programmable signal conditioning. The chip features three on-board cascaded finite impulse response filters and a programmable post processor, giving users adaptable control over filter profiles and the ability to realize other signal conditioning functions. The device accepts 0V to +4V or ±2V input signals at bandwidths up to 460 kHz and delivers a maximum serial or parallel output word rate of 1.2 MHz. Input sample rates are set by an external clock or crystal oscillator. To program the post processor, users simply download a configuration file that has been generated from the chip's compiler. The device comes in a 44-pin PLCC package and is priced at $23.00 each/1,000. Samples are available, as are evaluation boards, development tools and software.
