Efficient and secure protection against overvoltage and overcurrent for the 3.3V, 5V and 12V output rails in PC switchmode power supplies is provided by the TSM111 supervisor IC. The secondary-side housekeeping circuit integrates more than 25 discrete components in a small 20-pin package, reducing board area and component cost and boosting reliability. The device is specifically designed for triple-rail PC supplies, so it requires no external components for threshold adjustments. Overvoltage and overcurrent protection circuits are preset for each power line. However, timing adjustments are supported to allow optimal sequencing of the rails at turn-on.
