Unveiling as the company's next generation of USB connectivity devices, the USB 2.0 USB251x family of hub controllers provides what is said to be the industry’s smallest footprint options that can save up to 60% of board space. Also introduced, the USB331x ULPI transceiver family lays claim to being the most full-featured transceivers available to date. The USB hubs include the 2-port USB2512, 3-port USB2513, and 4-port USB2514. Each enlists the company's PortMap, PortSwap, TrueSpeed, and PHYBoost technologies, which offer users the flexibility to adjust their designs without having to recalculate previous steps. PortMap allows the numbering of physical ports to virtual ports and PortSwap aligns signal lines directly to connectors through a programmable USB differential-pair location. TrueSpeed employs LED drivers to indicate USB host/device speeds at 480 Mb/s for high-speed, 12 Mb/s at full speed, or 1.5 Mb/s at low-speed. PHYBoost provides 4-level, programmable USB signal drive strengths in downstream port transceivers and also works to restore USB signal integrity that has been compromised by system-level variables. Groomed for portable products, the USB3311, USB3315, USB3316, USB3317, USB3318, and USB3319 transceivers come in packages as small as 3 mm x3 mm. They feature a wrapper-less ULPI design that smoothly integrates into SoC reference designs. Employing the company's flexPWR technology, the transceivers specify a variable I/O voltage range from 1.8V to 3.3V. Samples of the USB251x family are available with prices ranging from $1.60 to $4.20 each/10,000. Samples of the USB331x family, also available now, range in price from $0.80 to $0.90 each/10,000.
