Design spaces are getting smaller and smaller. Elekon Industries has answered this challenge with the ERT-3280 series of reflective optical sensors, the smallest such sensors available.

Models in the series measure just 2.7 by 3.2 by 1.4 mm. They combine a high-output gallium-arsenide IR LED with a high-sensitivity phototransistor. Additionally, these sensors have an optimum sensing distance of 1 mm and a switching speed offering 30-ms rise and 25-ms fall times. Operating temperature ranges from −25°C to 85°C. And, they operate with a 940-nm infrared wavelength.

They're designed for applications that require a lightweight device and minimum installation space, such as object sensors, paper sensors, and EOT/BOT sensors. The ERT-3280 series comes in both flat SMD-compatible and pc-board-mount packages. Available now, pricing starts at $0.72 each in 1000-unit lots.
