Targeting medical and test equipment, printers, scanners, networking equipment, and other products, the HCMS-39XX series is said to represent the industry’s first 3.3V LED dot-matrix alphanumeric smart displays. And in addition to operating directly from 3.3V supplies, the new LED displays also provide the intelligence needed to interface directly with 3.3V microcontrollers without the need for extra components or voltage converters, such as are required for 5V displays. The result is a simplified power supply design and reduced board space requirements. The HCMS-39XX serial interface, 5x7 pixel format displays come in 4- and 8-character versions, each with a choice of 0.15'' or 0.20'' character heights and red, orange and green LEDs. The modules also incorporate an IC complete with refresh and constant current LED drive circuitry. The displays are dot-addressable, with their programmable features including blanking, multi-level dimming, and sleep mode.
