CompactPCI Card Carries Industrial Features

Sept. 1, 1999

With the speed, performance and ruggedness needed for applications in industrial control and instrumentation, the F2 computer card is capable of Pentium-class processing speeds. In addition, the flexibility of its I/O options- because of a site for a PCoMIP mezzanine card- is said to be unmatched. The card is available with either AMD’s K6-III 450-MHz processor or Intel’s Tillamook 266-MMX processor. It also has a local 100-MHz internal clock as well as a cPCI bus with speeds up to 33 MHz. The card operates over the entire industrial range for temperature, shock and vibration. Occupying one standard 3U slot in a cPCI card cage, the F2 is comprised of two boards. It has several I/O interfaces, including four serial ports with speeds up to one Mbaud, a 10/100-Mbps Ethernet interface, a USB port, a parallel port via an expansion slot, general-purpose I/O and an interface to Microsoft’s ACPI specification.
