A new series of space-saving resistor arrays integrates four 0402 resistors in a single 0804 surface-mount package. By placing the four electrically isolated 0402 resistor chips in the rugged, 0.5-mm-thick 8-pin package, the new arrays occupy about half the board area of four equivalent discrete 0402 chips. The 0804 package, available in convex or concave terminations, features a narrow termination pitch that's compatible with the fine 0.5-mm pitch of today's ICs. This also reduces board space while improving wiring layout.

These arrays reduce assembly costs as well as simplify component management. They include low parasitic inductance and a high power dissipation of up to 1/16 W at 50 V. Among the application areas it's targeting are notebook, desktop, and handheld computers, mobile phones, and digital consumer equipment. Resistances from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ with 5% tolerance are available, with a maximum operating voltage of 50 V. Contact the company for pricing information.
