Three new multiple-output regulators target computer motherboards supporting the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) power-management specification. The HIP6501A, a triple linear controller, replaces as many as 29 external components used in a discrete ACPI power-management implementation.
The HIP6500 and HIP6502, which regulate and control five voltage planes, replace up to 35 discrete components by integrating two additional regulators. All three offer system monitoring and protection features, such as soft start, overcurrent, undervoltage protection, overtemperature, and prevention of "illegal" ACPI state transitions. They also employ a built-in 200-ns delay which enables proper active- to sleep-state (S0 to S5) transitions. The HIP6501A comes in a 16-pin narrow-body small-outline (SOIC) package, and is priced at $1.71 each. The HIP6500 costs $2.07 each, while the HIP6502 goes for $2.11 each. Both come in 20-pin narrow-body SOIC packages.
