The MB90890 series of 16-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) support the controller area network (CAN) interface and are the first devices to employ the company's F2MC-16LX 16-bit MCU architecture, which, among other things, integrates 64 KB of dual-operation flash memory in two banks, making simultaneous read/write processing possible. The intent is to eliminate external memory chips, reduce board space requirements, and, of course, lower costs. The MCUs operate with voltages from 3.5V to 5.5V and employ thresholds for low input voltages ranging from 30% to 50% of Vcc. The MCUs also include 2 KB of RAM, timer functions, delayed and external interrupts, one CAN channel, two UARTs, and eight a/d converter channels. Minimum execution time is 62.5 ns at 4 MHz and operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 105°C. In 48-pin QFPs, price is $6 each/10,000.
