Embedded DSP Boards Boast Flexibility And Low-Cost

The micro-line family of embedded DSP boards features small size, low cost, and modularity for applications such as embedded real-time systems, communications, imaging and multimedia. The DSP boards offer a choice of either a TMS320C6211 or TMS320C6711 DSP, with up to 2 MB of SBRAM or 32 MB of SDRAM, and up to 512 KB of flash ROM, in a small 98 mm x 67 mm form factor. Users also have access to two TMS320C6000 McBSP (Multichannel Buffered Serial Ports) and a programmable digital I/O interface. The DSP boardsÕ flexible architecture can be enhanced with up to seven data acquisition and IEEE-1394 interface boards. The additional boards are controlled and accessed by the DSP processor via its 20-bit address and 32-bit data buses, propagated vertically through the boards, mounted as a single stack, one board on top of the other. Developers can mount the DSP and interface boards onto their own hardware or on the companyÕs optional power supply/carrier boards. The micro-line C6x11CPU boards are priced starting at $580 each/50. The optional power supply/carrier board adds from $70, and the 1394 interface board adds $625. Development systems start at $6,750.
