Claimed to put more functionality into less space than any enclosure of its type and class, the Millennium Gold 8U enclosure houses a 14-slot H.110 telephony bus backplane, four hot-swappable 175W power supplies, and four individually removable canisters for high-speed SCSI drives. And to help cool down its heat-generating contents, the CompactPCI enclosure also provides three hot-swappable fans mounted below the card-cage and three hot-swappable exhaust blowers mounted above. In addition, removable front doors covering the entire front of the enclosure and a 6U board for monitoring system vital functions through the board's Internet-based firmware are available as options.
The four 3U, 2-slot wide modular supplies deliver a total of 525W of power in a N+1 configuration, with each of the 175W units having 3.3V, 5V, +12V and -12V outputs. The supplies are current sharing on 5V and 3V outputs and are equipped with a P47 power connector. The four SCSI hard drive canisters have SCA connectors and provide up to 292 GB of storage in only three 6U slots. And the OSS system monitor keeps tabs on temperature, fan rotation, dc voltage levels, door open/close, and CPU activity. The enclosures are targeted for use in telephony, Internet and other mission-critical applications.
