Designed to simplify the integration of on-the-go USB functionality, the AT43USB380 is a USB 2.0 compliant OTG processor capable of offloading USB transactions from the system processor. The device is based on the AT43USB370 host/function processor architecture, which provides the necessary intelligence to manage USB transactions autonomously. It operates in one of three modes: OTG, standalone host, or standalone function. A 32-/16-/8-bit system bus allows the processor to interface with a variety of popular embedded processors, from the 32-bit ARM to the 8-bit AVR. Other features include a DMA engine and dual Rx and Tx FIFO buffering. Available in a 100-pin TQFP, the processor comes with the AT43USB380 reference design board and expansion slots for system processors. A comprehensive software suite includes standard USB drivers. Price is $4.89 each/10,000. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
