This new 2.5A motor drive distinguishes itself by having a footprint smaller than a playing card. The CY-45 bipolar, chopper-type drive works with all two- and four-phase step motors in the full/half step mode and provides an interface to the power supply, motor and signals via an on-board terminal strip. Motor drive current can be programmed to any value up to 2.5A using a single small resistor. The module can be used with power supplies rated up to 45V DC and has opto-isolated interface signals for step, direction and enable settings. Claimed to have an efficient switch-mode regulator, the CY-45 has dimensions of 3.25” x 2.125” x 1.15”, is available from stock, and costs $60 each/100.
