The Flexible Light Pipe Series offers designers expanded versatility in creating new products for SMD applications. The pipes's flexible tubing, clad in flame-retardant UL rated material, can extend to reach virtually any LED location on the PCB, eliminating the need for expensive daughtercards and secondary pc boards.
The pipes are suited for status indication applications where a distance is required between LEDs and display area. The components are capable of carrying the full intensity of a SMT LED to virtually any front panel or display up to 100 feet away.
The pipes are shipped in two pieces—tthe light pipe and diffusing lens as one piece, and the surface-mount adapter the other—tand are priced at about $0.75 each in production quantities for a full assembly in 6" lengths.
