This new 4U high x 12" deep horizontal CompactPCI enclosure is recommended for housing test and measurement, industrial and other systems needing up to eight 6U slots, but not requiring the redundancy of larger cPCI enclosures. Shorter than many competitive units by about 7", the new enclosure is designed to make cable routing to rear I/O boards easier in racks with limited space. Rear I/O is supported on all slots, allowing all cabling to be routed through the enclosure's rear. Storage space is provided by one 5.25" front access drive bay and an internal 3.5" drive bay. And two large intake fans and two card-cage fans provide cooling with front-to-rear airflow. The 4U horizontal enclosure can be equipped with a 6U backplane having up to eight slots. Available configurations include a 5-, 6- or 8-slot cPCI backplane optionally fitted with a H.110 telephony bus or the 2.16 Ethernet bus.
