A family of USB high-side, power-distribution switches targets a variety of hubs and peripherals. These include self/bus-powered hubs, self-powered hubs in laptops and portable computing platforms, self-powered hubs in keyboards and monitors, and USB peripherals such as CCD cameras and fingerprint identification devices. The IMP2525A has a 70-mΩ maximum switch resistance. Meanwhile, the IMP2525 and the IMP2526 switches boast a maximum 140-mΩ channel resistance. All three switches are in series with the 5-V bus supply, and they can be used to switch currents up to 500 mA. These devices are available now in 8-pin SO and DIP packages. In 1000-unit quantities, the IMP2525A costs $0.95 each, the IMP2525 costs $0.80 each, and the IMP2526 costs $1.02 each.
