Addressing the need to connect smart sensors and other industrial devices, the EPX-GX single-board computer (SBC) targets machine-to-machine applications that require a processor, wide variety of I/O, and connectivity. It supports 11 unique I/O functions with expansion options via PC/104 modules and a number of communication links including wired and wireless Ethernet. The board employs a 1W, AMD GX500 processor with an x86-native instruction set and 32 KB of L1 cache and operates over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C without a fan. It measures 115 mm x 165 mm and consumes 1.8A at 5V during normal operation. Additionally, the board supports both rotational and solid-state disks and provides two floppy and two UltraDMA 66 IDE disk drives plus a socket for bootable Type I and II CompactFlash cards.
