The Model 4205 one-slot Fibre Channel VME board now offers additional I/O, memory, and real-time processing options. These include single or dual RACE++ and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, up to 1 GB of SDRAM, and a 1-GHz MPC7457 G4 PowerPC processor and two programmable Xilinx Virtex-II FPGAs. As an alternative to commercial real-time operating systems (RTOSs), the recently ported eCos, a royalty-free RTOS, provides cost-effective real time performance plus open source code. Pricing for the Model 4205 starts at $7,995. The Model 4999 board-support package with drivers and eCos start at $1,000 with a one-year subscription available for $2,500.
