Charge Pump Delivers Highly Regulated Output

Sept. 1, 2002
Promising a highly regulated output while occupying very little pc board real estate, the AAT3110 switched-capacitor charge pump (voltage converter) delivers a ±4% regulated 5V or 3.3V output in an eight-pin SC70JW-8 or six-pin SOT23-6 package.

Promising a highly regulated output while occupying very little pc board real estate, the AAT3110 switched-capacitor charge pump (voltage converter) delivers a ±4% regulated 5V or 3.3V output in an eight-pin SC70JW-8 or six-pin SOT23-6 package. The charge pump operates in an output-regulated, voltage-doubling mode and employs a pulse-skipping technique that allows it to regulate varying input voltages. It operates over an input voltage range of from 2.7V to 5V (AAT3110-5) or 2.3V to 3.3V (AAT3110-3.3) and is capable of an output current up to 100 mA while consuming only 13 µA. Power consumption is less than 1 µA in shutdown mode. Other features of the device include an operating frequency of 750 kHz, a thermal management circuit for short-circuit protection, and an ESD rating of up to 2 kV. Operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C. For additional information and prices on the AAT3110 charge pump, contact ADVANCED ANALOGIC TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 524-9684.
