A new touch screen controller has been designed to concurrently support all communication standards and analog resistive touch screen overlays. The Octopus is an analog resistive touch screen controller board with jumper-selectable communications capabilities for RS-232, PS/2, and USB, as well as 4-wire, 5-wire and 8-wire analog resistive screen technologies. It comes in 10b or 12b configurations, delivering up to 4,096 x 4,096 resolution. The controller can be integrated onto motherboards and can quickly and accurately decode screen touch points in touch only, drawing, and writing applications. Device drivers come with the controller and are said to compensate for high-contact resistance and nonlinear touch screens. Pricing with drivers is $45 for the board and $7 each for the chip.
