Aiding video surveillance system designers in the migration from analog to digital technology, the VSIP Tool Kit pairs the company's TMS320DM642 digital-media processor with software from ATEME. The DSP allows deployment of digital video cameras that can be programmed to respond to specific conditions while ignoring other objects or events within the same viewing area. The kit includes the DM642 board, which provides audio and video inputs and a camera sensor. The software provides object libraries for MPEG-4 encoding/decoding, audio compression, RTP/RTSP video streaming, and for PC display. Application development is via surveillance-specific source code for motion vector extraction, noise filtering, and dating and referencing. Options are available for alarm management, encryption, and advanced motion detection. Other features include a full version of Code Composer Studio. Price is $14,995.
