Providing a unique architecture for embedded networking systems, the company's reference design and corresponding evaluation board pair a 16-bit PIC24 MCU from Microchip for application control and a CO2128 iChip for secure TCP/IP connectivity to LAN and GPRS networks. The evaluation board promises quick and easy development of an IP-enabled embedded system where the application resides on the MCU and the networking and security are via the CO2128. Users may realize a dual-core, Internet secure architecture where all connectivity features are isolated from the application, providing a natural firewall. The iChip connects to the PIC24 serial port and its intuitive, ASCII-based AT+i commands enable programmers to connect to IP networks and leverage the iChip’s IP features including HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, SMTP, POP3, SSL, and routing capabilities. Pricing for the IIEVB-PIC-2128-110/220 evaluation board is $149. CONNECT ONE SEMICONDUCTORS INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 572-5675.
