The PCM-DOC is a PC/104-compatible, flash disk storage module that stores from 8 to 288 Mbytes on a single board. It lets designers substitute flash memory in applications where the environment is too harsh for mechanical hard-disk or floppy-disk drives. Also, it stores programs and data for applications such as data collection and logging, diagnostics, embedded Internet appliances, and communications. Flash data retention is valid for at least 10 years, even with no battery or other power source.

Two versions are available to support different packaging styles. The first has a 32-pin DIP socket that is populated with the DiskOnChip 2000 series of flash memory. The second version is populated with up to four TSOP DiskOnChip Millennium parts, which are soldered directly to the board. This provides a rugged mounting construction. Both versions operate between 0°C and 70°C, though an extended range of 40°C to 85°C can be ordered. Only 5 V are required. In addition, these devices measure 3.6 by 3.8 in. while weighing only 7 oz.

Available from stock to two weeks, the PCM-DOC lists for $99 with no DiskOnChip memory installed.
