Embedded: Mix Of DSPs, FPGAs, And A PMC Slot For Video, Radio Processing
June 21, 2004
Two processing clusters on a CompactPCI board populate the novel Quadia board. Each cluster contains two C6416 DSPs, a Xilinx XCS4000 Spartan-3 FPGA, and a 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI mezzanine card (PMC) slot. A third FPGA can handle interprocessor communication via 32-bit FIFOs. Shared memory totals 512 Mbytes. The FPGA Rocket I/O interfaces are routed to external connectors. The system works with Texas Instruments' Code Composer Studio integrated development environment and Xilinx FPGA tools. A software tool suite is included as well. Pricing starts at $9900 without an FPGA. A fully loaded board goes for $17,800.
