Luton England: No, you are not suffering delusions or any form of space sickness. No, the Editor-in- Chief of Electronic Design Europe has not gone raving mad. No, it is not April 1. And, yes, Star Trek fans can unite!

Believe it or not, Cherry Electrical Products issued a press release saying it’s launched a Klingon language personal-computer (PC) keyboard. Consequently, users can use the Klingon language and fonts on their computers that are running either Windows, OS-X (Mac), or Linux.

Commenting on the keyboard, Chancellor Stalker Zantai Subaiesh of the Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps on Earth says:

“PC users will now be able to work directly in Klingon and interface seamlessly with commercial Klingon systems, bringing Human and Klingon cultures closer together.”

Closer to earth, Michael Groom, general sales manager at Cherry, explains: “The Klingon keyboard is the first step in providing PC input devices for all Federation cultures, and will aid \[in\] communications between Earth and other cultures within the Federation that fall outside the domain of Starfleet command. Of course, this keyboard demonstrates our capability to deliver custom keyboard designs, keycaps and layouts— whether on this planet or elsewhere in the universe!”

In a further display of keyboard customisation capability, Cherry Electrical Products say Romulan and Vulcan versions will follow soon.

“Live long and prosper.” Ed.
