Interconnects Help Lower Product Profiles

April 1, 1999

More help is on the way for designers facing pressures to downsize new cellular phones, pages, notebook and palmtop computers, and a host of other slim profile electronic products. The help is in the form of ultra-low, board-to-board and cable-to-board receptacle and header interconnection systems called Low Profile Systems (LPSs).The receptacles feature a new contact design on either 1.27 or 2.00 mm centers that mate with a variety of headers or existing pins. The interconnects are available with from 2 to 40 pin positions.
