Surface-Mount Jumpers Work With Pick-And-Place

Feb. 1, 1999

Designed for pick-and-place machine assembly and reflow soldering, Surface Mount Interconnect (SMI) flexible sculptured surface-mount jumpers are said to save considerable manufacturing time compared with traditional jumpers and connectors that require through-hole assembly or hand soldering. Available in up to 33 ways, each jumper with its rigidity and co-planar profile enables superior electrical connection with board surfaces, it's claimed. Additionally, after passing through the reflow solder process, the SMI jumper provides enough flexibility for board biscuits to be cut as required and reformed with a bend up to 180°.
