OEM Board Delivers Professional-Quality Audio

Jan. 1, 1999

OEMs of professional audio equipment have a powerful signal-processing platform for demanding applications in the Spinner audio board, which integrates 24-bit, 96-kHz analog and digital audio interfaces with Analog Devices' ADSP-21065L SHARC DSP. The board achieves 360 MFLOPS of floating-point processing power from its one or two 30-MHz DSPs. Each of those DSPs offers 12 bi-directional flags, three interrupt lines, and two bi-directional timers with event-capture options. The board's interfaces include up to four channels of A/D and D/A conversion, as well as a single channel of AES/EBU-standard digital input and output to ensure professional-grade audio quality. Both the AES/EBU signals and analog audio signals are transmitted to and from the DSPs by means of I2S-format serial ports. Boards are available with either one DSP and an 8-bit digital I/O port for data acquisition or with two DSPs and a 16-bit digital I/O port.
