Data acquisition and process control systems are the main applications being targeted by a new series of digital I/O CompactPCI boards. The 3U CompactPCI units are available in three different configurations: CP380-I has 18 digital input channels; CP380-O offers 16 digital output channels; and CP380-I/O provides nine input channels and eight output channels. All channels are rated for 24 vdc and are opto-isolated, providing isolation of 500V between I/O and the system. The digital I/O boards are designed to deliver reliable 1-kHz operation, even in noisy environments, with the inputs featuring negative-edge interrupt triggering and the outputs offering glitch-free power-on characteristics. All have plug-and-play functionality and, depending on the board, use one or two D-Sub connectors to provide I/O connections via the front panel.
