PC/104 Card Keeps Motors Under Control

Nov. 1, 1998

Quick implementation of PC-based motion control systems is the promise of AIM-104-MOTION, an embeddable PC/104 board that can be interfaced to a wide range of low-cost stepper and brushed dc servo motors having a max. rating of 1A per winding. Well-suited for closed-loop operation, the board is designed to provide single-axis motion control and drive for the motors, or, by stacking several of the cards together, to provide synchronized multi-axis control. The PC/104 card can be programmed using PC tools such Visual or Borland C++. And the card uses encoder feedback and its digital filter to maintain motor position and/or velocity control.
