Portable Towers Meet IEEE Standards

Sept. 1, 1999

The CoolSlot family of nine-slot portable towers is fully compatible with IEEE 1101.10/11 packaging standards. The firm's proprietary air-deflecting CoolSlot card guides eliminate cooling dead spots on boards and provides a uniform air flow throughout the system. Tests are said to show a cooling improvement of 50% in board areas near the front panel and backplane that are blocked by extrusions and normally deprived of air flow. Towers are available for CompactPCI, VME64x or VME monolithic backplanes; CompactPCI backplanes are compliant with PICMG specifications with the system slot on the left or right. Power supplies offer ratings of 235W embedded, 300W embedded or 350W plug-in.
