The MAX1644 is touted as the smallest, highest frequency 2A dc-dc converter with internal switches. It's suited for use in PC Cards, CPU daughterboards, and bus termination boards. The converter features built-in 0.1 ohms (typical) internal N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs to provide rectification, which minimizes external components and improves efficiencies to as high as 95%. A programmable, constant-off-time, current-mode PWM control scheme offers switching frequencies as high as 350 kHz. The scheme also includes an Idle Mode to maintain high efficiency during light-load operation. The device offers preset 3.3V or 2.5V outputs or an adjustable 1.1V to 3.8V range.
