Multi-CPU Board Claims To Be Industry's Fastest

July 1, 2000

Incorporating two 850-MHz versions of the Coppermine-256 processor, the Atlas-C CompactPCI board is claimed to be the industry's fastest CPU board. Each of the speedy processors is equipped with 256 KB of no-wait-state, on-die cache and share up to 1 GB of 100-MHz SDRAM. The dual CPUs are linked via a 100-MHz local bus, which is an extension of Intel's front-side bus (FSB).
Targeting telecommunications and high-availability data processing applications, the board includes dual 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet interfaces, a 40 MB/s UltraWide SCSI interface, and a 64-bit AGP graphics engine with 4 MB of video RAM optimized for 3-D rendering. Also on-board are two Ultra-DMA 33 IDE interfaces, two USB ports, dual serial I/O with optional RS-422 drivers, and a parallel port.
Pricing for the Atlas-C is $2,299 less processors and memory, with the card available immediately from stock.
