Loop-Powered Isolators Halt Interference

Oct. 1, 2000

A new series of loop-powered isolators is designed for preventing the transfer of interference voltages and currents and for breaking ground loops. The DSCL20 and DSCL21 are said to provide a simple low-cost solution for protecting analog signals in the range of 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA. Each device provides a single channel of 500 Vrms transformer isolation for analog signals in the rated range.
The DSCL20 is packaged in a "component" style package suited for pc board mounting, while the DSCL21 is a DIN-rail-mount version of the DSCL20. Prices for the DSCL20 modules start at $61, and the DSCL21s start at $89.
